Viking RVGC3301 30-Inch Gas Cooktop
The RVGC3301 is a 30-inch gas cooktop from the 3 Series line, installed in a standard drop-in cutout with sealed burners and analog knobs. It is no longer produced, but many are still working in kitchens that were built around them.
Because the burners are sealed, spills cannot fall into the cabinet, though they work their way into ports and around the igniter. We usually see a burner that clicks and does not light, a flame with one side missing, or a knob that turns without much resistance. We clean the burner heads, check how each cap sits, and then check the spark. Low-flame problems point to a worn valve, which we test last and quote clearly.
If a burner has been dark for a while, mention it when you call, so we bring the right igniter for that position.
The spark module clicks until it senses a flame, so a lit burner that keeps clicking may have a wet or dirty igniter. We dry and clean it, then test the module if the clicking continues.
A short delay is common after cleaning. If it takes several seconds or you smell gas, turn the knob off, leave the area, and call the gas utility from outside.
Knobs may turn loosely, the flame may not hold on low, or the burner may not shut off crisply. We test the valve under load and replace it only if the readings call for it.
