Viking RVDOE330 3 Series Oven
The RVDOE330 is a current 30-inch electric double oven in the 3 Series, with a 6-pass concealed bake element, a 10-pass broiler with a heat reflector, TruGlide full-extension racks and TruConvec convection, at 4.3 cu ft of capacity.
A concealed bake element is out of sight beneath the floor, so we judge it by resistance and current instead of by glow. Slow preheating or pale bottoms usually trace to a weakened element or a drifting sensor. The broiler’s many passes put a lot of element in a small space, and a break in any section shows as an uneven glow.
TruGlide racks need clean, lubricated glides, and convection fans show age through whining. We replace what has failed and leave the rest alone. Parts are usually easy to source on a current model. The price is written first, and a 30-day warranty applies.
We cannot see it glow, so we disconnect it and measure resistance, then check the current it draws when the oven calls for heat. A reading outside the normal range confirms the element.
Spills and self-clean heat remove the lubricant and gum up the glides. We clean and relubricate them or replace bent glides. Bent glides are replaced as a pair.
A section of the element may have failed or a connection may be loose. We inspect and test the element and terminals. Even glow across all passes is the target.
