Viking FDW101WS Softener Dishwasher
The FDW101WS is a retired 101 Series 24-inch dishwasher with a water softener, three wash arms, triple filtration, a turbidity sensor and Quiet Clean insulation that keeps the noise down. The racks are adjustable and hold up to 12 place settings.
With a softener in the loop, we separate washing problems from water problems. Cloudy glassware or a chalky film often leads us to the softener and its salt. Grit or poor cleaning leads us to the filters and arms. A machine that sounds louder than it used to makes us look at the pump and the insulation around it. We also check the drain, since standing water can come from several places.

Chalky film on glass and cloudy dishes despite clean filters are the signs. We test the water and the softener cycle, and we refill or repair as needed.
A tired pump, an object in the arm or a loose part in the tub may be the reason. We listen during a cycle and inspect the pump area and arms.
Use the detergent type the owner guide recommends, and keep the softener supplied with the correct salt. Using the wrong products can leave residue and affect results.
