Flash pattern 1-2, one Pots/Pans blink followed by two Normal Wash blinks, is the Motor Control Status Error on Viking Professional VDB450 and Designer DDB325 built-in dishwashers. Unlike a lost link, here the motor control answers but reports a status problem with the motor it drives. The control halts the cycle to protect the motor, and you are left with a stopped dishwasher and repeating lights.
1. Turn off the breaker for two minutes and restore it. 2. Open the door, check that nothing is jammed in the spray arms or the filter area, and close it firmly. 3. Press Start and watch for the 1-2 lights. 4. If they return, leave the machine off. Motor and board checks involve live power, so we handle them.
Pattern 1-3 means the main control gets no answer from the motor control. Pattern 1-2 means an answer arrives, and it says the motor side has a problem.
A jam can strain a motor, so we look for that. The pattern still names the motor control status, which means the cause may lie in the motor or its board.
We advise against it. The control stopped the cycle for a reason, and forcing more starts can stress the motor and board further, which can turn a small repair into a larger one.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
