Viking DGSU161 36-Inch Gas Cooktop
The DGSU161 is a Designer Series 36-inch gas cooktop with continuous grates. It is a retired model, and the ones we service are generally in kitchens that have kept the original cooktop through a remodel or two.
On a cooktop this age, burner ports collect baked-on residue, igniters become unreliable, and valves lose their smooth feel at low flame. Cleaning is always step one because it is quick and often solves the problem. If a burner still fails, we test the spark at the igniter, check the module, and then inspect the valve. When the model needs a part that is hard to find, we say so up front.
If you smell gas, go outside and call the gas utility first.
Igniters and burner ports usually go first, then the valves. Continuous grates themselves rarely fail, but the burners under them collect residue. We clean, test each burner separately, and list what needs replacing with a price.
A worn valve or dirty port is the usual cause. We clean the burner and then test the valve at low position. If it will not hold, the valve needs attention.
Yes. We light each one, check the flame color and shape, and note any that spark slowly. You get the findings along with a written price for anything that needs work.
