Viking DCCG1301 Designer Gas Range
The DCCG1301 is a retired Designer Series 30-inch freestanding gas range with a continuous grate over sealed burners. Inside, a 30,000 BTU u-shaped burner and a GourmetGlo infrared broiler supply the oven heat, so most oven complaints come down to ignition.
When the oven is slow to light, we check the igniter first and the gas valve second, because a weak igniter can delay the burner and wear the valve. The infrared broiler gets the same attention. On the cooktop, we clean the sealed burners, dry them and test the spark. The continuous grate lets pots slide across the surface, and we check that it sits flat. Anyone who notices a gas smell should go outdoors right away and report it to the gas utility. Expect the cost in writing before we begin, with a 30-day workmanship warranty afterward.
The igniter probably draws less current than it used to. We test it with a meter and replace it if it is weak, then check the gas valve.
It is the main bake burner, shaped like a U under the oven floor. We inspect its flame pattern and clean the ports if the flame is uneven.
Let it cool, then wash it with warm soapy water. Dry it fully and put it back flat so pots slide smoothly. Dry it completely and set it back flat, since a tilted grate can rock under heavy pots.
