Viking RDMOR200 Over-Range Microwave Service
The RDMOR200 is a 30-inch conventional microwave hood from the Viking D3 series, mounted above a range with the cooking surface beneath it. That position is hard on it. Steam, grease and heat from the burners work their way into the vent fan and the lamp sockets long before the microwave itself shows any trouble.
On a service call we begin with the hood side. We check the fan speeds, clean the grease filters and inspect the lamp sockets, then test the door switches and the heating path. Many of these calls end with a fan motor or a switch rather than anything inside the microwave section.
Because this model is retired, we check that parts can be sourced before we quote. You receive the price in writing before we start, and the repair is covered by our 30-day workmanship warranty.
Grease coats the fan wheel and filters over time and the motor then labors. We clean the wheel, check the capacitor and speed switch, and confirm the duct is not blocked before replacing the motor.
Yes, in most cases. The fan and the microwave are separate circuits. A dead fan does not stop heating, but we still test both, because heat buildup around a failing fan motor can trip a thermal protector.
We check the door switches first, then the high-voltage diode, capacitor and magnetron. The cabinet holds a dangerous charge, so we discharge it before testing and never ask you to open it.
