Viking DMOC205 Convection Microwave
The DMOC205 is a retired Designer series convection microwave oven. Viking described it as offering real convection cooking to brown and crisp evenly, and as preheating for baking.
A convection microwave has two heating systems, so when it stops heating we first find out which one. The microwave circuit is tested through the magnetron, diode and capacitor; the convection side through the heater, its thermal protection and the fan. The convection fan can grow noisy as bearings age, and the door latch and interlocks need to work for either system to run. We never return an oven to use with a damaged door.
For a retired unit, we confirm parts from the tag. You see the price in writing before we start.
The convection heater, its thermal protection or the fan may have failed. The microwave circuit is separate, so it can keep working. We test each part and replace what fails.
Bearings wear with age, and grease can build on the blades. We clean the fan and test the motor, then replace it if the noise or speed is wrong.
The listing says it does. If it takes much longer than before or never reaches temperature, the heater or a sensor may be weakening, and we test them.
