Viking RDECU206 30-Inch Electric Cooktop
The RDECU206 is a 30-inch built-in electric cooktop from the Viking D3 series, with five burners under a wear-resistant glass ceramic surface. It is retired, though many are still in use.
With five elements, the likelihood that one will tire before the others is real. A burner may go cold, the switch may become erratic, or the glass may show a chip near the edge. We start with voltage at the terminal block, then measure the element and test the control that serves it. Because the cooktop mixes different element sizes, we make sure the replacement matches the position it comes from.
We replace elements only after they fail a resistance test, and we confirm the switch afterward so the new element is not asked to carry a problem the old one never had. You receive the price first.
Tell us which position it is. Elements vary in size, so we need the right one. We measure the element and its switch before replacing either.
Not hard, but it dislikes impact and sugar spills. Clean with a ceramic-glass cleaner and avoid dragging pots. Promptly remove sugary spills while the surface is still warm and safe to touch.
We measure resistance in the element and check the voltage at the switch with the knob on. If the element reads normal and no power arrives, the switch is the suspect.
