Viking RDSCD230-5B Dual Fuel Range
The RDSCD230-5B is a 30-inch freestanding dual fuel range from the Designer Series, with five sealed gas burners and an electric convection oven. Instead of a display, it uses indicator lights for latch, RTD, model, cooling fan and high limit, which tell us where to begin.
When one of those lights comes on, we match it to a part: the latch light points to the door lock, the RTD light to the oven temperature sensor, and the cooling fan and high limit lights to their own parts. We test the named part and its wiring before anything else. On the cooktop, we lift the sealed burners, clean the bases, dry them and test the spark on all five.
For any gas odor, exit the home and call the gas utility from a safe place outside. The price goes in writing before the repair, and we warrant the workmanship for 30 days.
RTD is the oven temperature sensor. When that light shows, we test the sensor and its wiring, because a bad sensor can keep the oven from heating properly.
It means the fan that cools the electronics needs attention. Use the oven sparingly and call us, since overheated electronics can fail. We also check that vents around the range are clear of dust.
Five sealed gas burners on a 30-inch cooktop. We test the spark on each one during a visit and clean the bases. We test the spark on each burner as part of every visit.
