What E:06 means

On current Viking VDWU and FDWU dishwashers in the 324, 524 and 724 series, E:06 is an NTC error, meaning the temperature sensor that measures wash-water heat is reporting a bad reading. The machine uses that sensor to control heating, so when the reading cannot be trusted the E:06 icon shows. The cycle may stop, or the water might not reach the right temperature.

Common causes of E:06

  • NTC temperature sensor reading out of range
  • Sensor wiring loose or damaged
  • Control not reading the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the breaker for the dishwasher off for about a minute, then back on. 2. Run a short cycle and watch for the E:06 icon. 3. If the cycle finishes and the dishes are warm, mention it when you call. 4. If E:06 is back, stop using the machine. The sensor lives in the water circuit.

! Why to stop there
  • The sensor is hidden in the tub and sump area
  • Heating problems and sensor problems both show E:06-type behavior
  • Written price first, 30-day warranty on the repair
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E:06E:06 questions
What is an NTC?

It is a temperature sensor whose electrical resistance changes with heat. The machine reads it to decide whether the water is warm enough or already too hot.

Why can this stop my wash?

If the machine cannot trust the water temperature, it cannot heat safely or choose the right program, so it stops the cycle and shows E:06 on the indicator.

Is a breaker reset enough?

It can clear a one-time bad reading. If E:06 returns, the sensor or its connection is giving a real bad reading, and a technician needs to test it before more cycles are run.
