What E:01 means

On current Viking VDWU and FDWU dishwashers in the 324, 524 and 724 series, including the water-softener versions, E:01 means overflow. The machine took in too much water or there is leakage somewhere inside, and the E:01 icon flashes on the program indicator. If E:01 does not go away after the machine drains, a permanent problem is present and service is needed.

Common causes of E:01

  • Inlet valve letting too much water in
  • Leak inside the dishwasher
  • Drain not clearing the tub
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn off the water supply valve under the sink. 2. Switch off the dishwasher's breaker and mop up any water around it. 3. Wait a few minutes, restore power, and see whether the machine drains and the icon clears. 4. If E:01 keeps flashing, leave the water off and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Overflow can damage cabinets and flooring if it continues
  • The water source has to be traced inside the unit
  • Our price comes in writing first, and a 30-day warranty covers the repair
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E:01E:01 questions
Is it dangerous?

Water can reach the floor, so shut off the water supply and the power first. The machine is designed to drain on its own, but do not leave a flashing E:01 unattended.

Will E:01 clear by itself?

It can if the extra water drains and the problem was one-time. The manual says that if it does not disappear, a permanent problem exists and service is required.

Should I look for a leak?

Yes. Check the floor and the cabinet under the dishwasher after you turn the water off. Tell us what you found, as it helps us to decide what to bring.
