On older Viking ERC ovens such as the VEDO273 and VGDO271, F7 means a shorted input key was detected on the control panel. One of the keys on the touch panel reads as pressed all the time, and the control reports it. The usual checks are the panel-to-circuit-board connection, continuity of the panel, and then the panel itself. Oven functions may be limited while F7 shows.
1. Turn the oven off and wipe the control panel with a slightly damp, soft cloth, including around the keys. 2. Make sure no tape, sticker or heavy spill is pressing on a key. 3. Turn off the breaker for a minute and restore it. 4. If F7 returns, call us; the panel connection is behind the trim.
Yes. Liquid or grease under a key can short it. Cleaning and drying the panel sometimes clears the message, so try that first before calling for service.
It is the ribbon that links the keys to the circuit board. If it loosens or the panel is damaged, the control reads a key as stuck and reports F7.
With a key reading as pressed, the oven may behave unpredictably. We advise leaving it off until the panel and its connection have been checked.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
