On Viking wall ovens with the EOC4 control, including the Designer DDOE305 and DSOE301, the D3 RDDOE306 and the Professional VESO130, F03 is a cooling fan Hall-effect sensor error. The EOC4 is not receiving a square wave in the allowable frequency range from the fan's sensor. In plain terms, the control cannot confirm the cooling fan is turning at its proper speed, so F03 shows on the display.
1. Turn the oven off and let it cool. 2. Listen for the cooling fan after the oven has been on, and see whether air flows from the vent above the door. 3. Make sure the vent slots are not covered. 4. Reset the oven at its breaker for a minute. If F03 returns, call us; the fan is behind the control panel.
It pulls air through the oven's upper compartment to keep the control and the surrounding cabinets cool. Running the oven without it risks overheating those parts.
We advise against it. Without a confirmed cooling fan, parts around the oven can overheat, so wait for the fan and its feedback signal to be checked.
Dust can slow a fan, so we check for it. The code itself refers to the fan's feedback signal, which must be in range, and not to how clean the fan is.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
