On Viking Designer DETU series touch-control radiant cooktops, a capital FC on the timer display is a key error. The control stops all heating elements and shows the code. Do not confuse it with Fc, a small c, which means over temperature on this cooktop. Because the two differ only by letter case, read the display carefully, and tell us which one you see.
1. Turn all controls off. 2. Let the glass cool and dry the touch area. 3. Remove anything resting on the panel. 4. Reset power at the breaker after waiting one minute. 5. If FC returns, call us and say whether the C is capital or small.
Look at the second letter. A capital C is a key error. A small c is over temperature. They are different problems with different repairs.
Sometimes, if moisture or grease makes a key read as pressed. Dry the panel and try again after a power reset. A photo of the display helps us confirm the letters before we arrive.
Describe the display to us or send a photo. We confirm before any work, quote in writing and give a 30-day workmanship warranty. Photos of the display help.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
