On Viking Professional VDSC5xxT dual-fuel ranges with the EOC4 control, for example the VDSC530T-4B or VDSC548T-4GQ, Key Short means the control has seen a key press input for more than 30 seconds. The control reads that as a stuck key, so it ignores the key pad rather than act on a wrong command. A stuck key may be a touch pad with grease, moisture or a worn contact.
1. Turn the oven off if you can. 2. Wipe the panel with a barely damp soft cloth, then dry it. 3. Make sure nothing leans on the keys. 4. Switch the breaker off for a minute and back on. 5. If the message returns, call us. Do not pry at the keys.
The message does not say. We find it by testing each key during the visit, because a worn pad may not look different from the others.
Yes. Moisture under the panel can make a pad act as if it is pressed. Wipe with a lightly damp cloth, never spray directly on the keys.
The control ignores the keys rather than act on a false press, so the oven may not respond to commands. We recommend leaving it off until we check.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
