The VSOE130 is a current 30-inch electric single select oven in the 5 Series, with a 4.1 cu ft cavity, TruConvec and Vari-Speed Dual Flow convection, a concealed bake element and TruGlide full-extension racks.
Vari-Speed Dual Flow moves air at different speeds, so a fan stuck at one speed makes baking uneven; we test the motor and the signal that changes its speed. The concealed element cannot be seen glowing, so we judge it by resistance and current. Racks that bind need their glides cleaned and relubricated after self-clean heat, or replaced if bent.
If the lock fails after cleaning, the motor and the switch are tested. As this is a current model, parts are generally easy to source. The price is written before work, and a 30-day workmanship warranty applies.
The motor's speed windings or the control signal may have failed. We test the motor and the board output that changes speed. A fan that never changes speed leaves hot spots in the cavity.
We measure its resistance and the current it draws when the oven calls for heat, because we cannot watch it glow. Those numbers show clearly whether the element is weak.
It is best to remove them. Self-clean heat strips the lubricant from the glides, and they bind afterward. Rubbing the glides with a dry cloth afterward does not replace lubricant.
