Viking VEWD530 Drawer Repair
A VEWD530 is a retired 5 Series warming drawer, 30 inches wide. A drawer of this size carries a lot of load on its slides when it is full of plates, and the rattle that owners hear is often the first sign that rollers are wearing. Slow heat-up is the other typical complaint, and it can come from the element or a leaking seal.
On a VEWD530 we check both the rattle and the heat. The slides are inspected under load, the latch tested, and the temperature measured as the drawer heats. If heating is slow, we test the element and look for a gap in the seal. The control board is tested for response last. Pricing is in writing before parts are ordered, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
It is not dangerous, but it means a roller or latch is loose. We tighten or replace the part so the drawer does not wear further.
The element may be weak, or the seal may be leaking heat around the drawer. We measure the heat-up time, test the element, and run a paper-strip check around the front to compare the two.
We test power and connections first. A loose connector is more common than a failed board, and we replace the board only when tests point to it.
