Viking VEC530 30-Inch Electric Cooktop
The VEC530 is a 30-inch electric cooktop with radiant elements under a ceramic glass surface, normally set into a countertop above a base cabinet or a drawer. It replaced coil tops in many kitchens because the smooth glass wipes clean.
Radiant elements wear gradually. A zone may take longer to glow red, one ring may stay dark, or the controls may act up after a wet cloth lets moisture seep in. The glass itself is the other worry: a dropped pot or a sudden temperature swing can start a crack, and once glass is cracked the cooktop should not be used. We begin with a meter on the affected element and the infinite switch or touch control feeding it.
If the surface looks intact, most repairs are an element or a switch, and they are done in one visit when the part is on the truck.
We check power to that element, then the element itself with a meter, and the switch or control that feeds it. The result tells us whether a switch, an element, or a wiring connection needs replacing.
Stop using the cooktop and switch off its breaker. Cracked glass can let liquid reach live parts. We confirm the damage and quote a replacement top or repair before you decide.
The light is meant to stay lit until the glass cools, which can take a while. If it stays on for hours, a control or sensor may be failing, and we would test it.
