Viking DDOE305 Double Oven Service
The DDOE305 is a retired Designer series double electric oven, 30 inches wide. It is the knob-and-button version, with the DDOE305T as its touch-control cousin, and it has two cavities stacked behind two doors.
Stacked doors take abuse. The upper door is opened at chest height with hot trays and the lower one is dropped open at knee height, so hinge springs weaken and gaskets crush. We start with door alignment because a door that does not close fully lets heat out and trips the control into odd behavior. Then we test each cavity’s elements and sensor.
A self-clean cycle holds the lock under extreme heat, and locks that jam need their motor and switch tested. For a retired oven we confirm part availability first, write the price before work and give a 30-day warranty.
We check the element's continuity, its connections and the relay or switch that powers it. A burned-through element is the most common cause on an older oven.
The hinge springs weaken from years of heavy opening and hot trays. We replace the springs or hinges, then check that the gasket seals evenly. Weak springs also let the door slam open.
Both are 30-inch Designer double ovens. The T version uses touch controls, so its control panel is diagnosed differently from the DDOE305's. Parts for the two panels are not interchangeable.
