On older Viking ERC built-in ovens such as the VGDO271 gas and VEDO273 electric, the word door flashing on the display means the control did not sense the lock status within 60 seconds of energizing the door lock relay. In other words, one full lock cycle was not completed. The oven will not carry on with a clean cycle until the latch switches report correctly.
1. Let the oven cool, then close the door fully and check that nothing is stuck in the frame. 2. Press the cancel key and wait a minute. 3. Try the cycle again. 4. If door keeps flashing, turn off the breaker for a minute and restore it. If the message returns, call us; do not force the latch.
When the control starts the lock, it expects confirmation within 60 seconds. If that confirmation is missing, it flashes the word door instead of continuing with the cycle.
Yes. If the door is not seated in its frame, the lock cannot complete its cycle. Close it fully, press cancel, and try again before calling for service.
Maybe not. We verify the latch switches first and replace parts only if they fail the check, and the price is quoted in writing before we start.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
