On current Viking VDWU and FDWU 324, 524 and 724 dishwashers, including the water-softener models, E:05 points to the wash diverter valve. This valve switches the wash water between the spray arms. When the control finds a problem with it, the E:05 icon appears on the program indicator, and the wash may stop or reach only part of the load.
1. Open the door and spin both spray arms by hand to make sure they are not blocked by a tall dish. 2. Switch the dishwasher off at its breaker for a minute and restore power. 3. Run a short cycle. 4. If E:05 comes back, stop using the machine and call us. The valve is inside the water path.
It sends water to different spray arms in turn. If the valve stalls, one level may get no water, or the cycle may stop entirely.
A dish stuck against a spray arm blocks the arm, but E:05 refers to the valve. Still, we check arms first because it costs nothing.
They might, because the water may only reach one level. Rewash after a reset if you are not ready to call, and tell us the results.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
