Viking DUWC144D Solid Cellar Service
The DUWC144D is a retired Designer 24-inch solid door wine cellar. Its six wire shelves store up to 54 bottles horizontally, keeping corks moist. Wire shelves can bend with a full load and let bottles shift, and a stiff gasket on a solid door can let the temperature creep up without any visible clue.
We service a DUWC144D by measuring the temperature, inspecting the shelves for bends and testing the gasket with a paper strip. The fan, condenser and compressor are checked, and we listen for noise from loose mounts. Price in writing first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty follows the repair. Each shelf is loaded with bottles during the test, and the door is closed to confirm the seal holds with a full cellar.
It keeps the cork in contact with the wine so it stays moist. Shelves need to hold the bottles level, so we check for bent wire.
A slight bend can be straightened, but a badly bent shelf is better replaced. We check each shelf with a load of bottles and quote any replacement in writing.
Often a loose mount or a dusty condenser is to blame, not the compressor. We locate the sound, tighten what is loose and clean the coil before judging the compressor.
