Viking VEWD536 Custom Drawer Service
The VEWD536 is a retired 36-inch custom warming drawer, with moisture control and temperature settings from 90 to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. The custom front is meant to match the surrounding cabinetry, and a heavier front adds weight to the drawer. Together with a wide cavity, that makes alignment and rail strength key points for service.
We service a VEWD536 by checking how the front hangs and whether the slides carry it squarely. Then we measure heat at both ends of the drawer, work the moisture selector and test the control for drift. The cavity is cleaned of any spills that may have baked onto the element. A written quote comes before we order any part, and we give a 30-day warranty on the repair.
A heavy front adds load to the rails and can pull the drawer out of line. We adjust the rails and confirm the front is mounted correctly.
A thermostat that ages can hold a slightly different temperature than the dial shows. We measure and compare to decide whether to recalibrate or replace.
We advise against covering vents or the base with foil, because it traps heat and can damage the element. Use proper trays or oven-safe pans instead, and keep the base clear of spills.
