Viking VEWD163T Warming Drawer Service
The VEWD163T is a retired 36-inch warming drawer with moisture control and a temperature range of 90 to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Plenty of owners put it in a long island or in the cabinet next to a double oven, where it handles platters, plates and rolls all at once. Heavy use is what wears the rails and seals.
We service a VEWD163T by timing the heat-up to the middle of its range and then to the maximum. A slow drawer points to the element or a leaking seal. We test the moisture control, inspect the seal along the drawer front and check the rails for wear under load. Pricing is written down first for any retired part, and our work carries a 30-day warranty.
Possibly, but a leaking seal can have the same effect. We test the element and also check the seal and the way the drawer closes.
Rolls do well in the lower to middle part of the range, enough to stay warm without drying. If the drawer overshoots the setting, we measure the real temperature and check the thermostat.
Weight and daily opening wear the rollers and rails. We clean and adjust them, replace worn parts, and test the drawer with a load so it glides out without tilting at the front.
