Whether your Viking cooktop, oven, built-in refrigerator, ice machine or grill is east or west of Cedar Bayou, we make the call. Pick a three-hour arrival window through the site or give us a ring.
Local housing, power events, water conditions, and installation styles all affect how we approach Viking diagnostics here.
Three oil towns, Goose Creek, Pelly and Baytown, combined on January 24, 1948. Humble Oil had already drilled the first offshore well in Texas out in the Goose Creek field, back in 1916, and its refinery became today's ExxonMobil complex.
A house from the oil era and a subdivision from last decade differ in wiring and piping, so we want the model plate before we visit. A dual fuel Viking needs 240V and a gas stub, and older circuits sometimes call for an electrician first.
Houston sells raw Trinity River water, and the Coastal Water Authority canal carries it east to the Baytown Area Water Authority. That agency treats it for roughly 75,000 customers across Baytown, Highlands and several utility districts.
Surface water leaves fine sediment, so refrigerator filters and ice machine screens clog on a regular rhythm. We clean the screens, change the filter and flush the line, and the drain gets checked before we blame the machine.
Large parts of Baytown rest on filled marsh and prairie, and flat land by the bay floods repeatedly. Groundwater pumping once sank the ground badly, which is the reason the city switched to river water.
Whatever sits on the floor, such as a garage freezer or an undercounter wine unit, meets standing water first. Leave a wet unit unplugged, and we examine the wiring, compressor and controls before it runs.
Houses from the mid-century era usually fit a 30-inch range and a conventional refrigerator. Newer streets above I-10 and past the bayou lean toward gas cooktops and large French-door models.
Burner and igniter work dominates our Viking cooktop calls in these homes. Built-in refrigerators ask for clean coils and a level cabinet, and wall ovens and hoods need attention where a remodel moved the duct.
Baytown is where our regular eastern routes end, and we get there on I-10 or by crossing the Fred Hartman Bridge on SH 146. Homes on either bank of Cedar Bayou, Chambers County included, are on the map. A snapshot of the model plate helps us load the right parts.
A house of oil-era vintage and a new subdivision act differently, so a Viking oven that will not heat could be a bake igniter, a temperature sensor or a dead outlet. See whether the breaker tripped, and bring in an electrician when a range circuit trips repeatedly or the receptacle feels warm. A slow ice maker usually just needs a new filter, and a plumber is the call if the shutoff under the sink drips.
It is. Both banks of Cedar Bayou are on our map, and timing depends on how far east you are, usually within a day.
Not necessarily. A bake igniter or temperature sensor causes many of these, and we test both before ordering anything. You approve a price in writing first.
Damp air gathers dust on coils and swells gaskets over time. Vacuum the coils twice a year, and call us to check seals and fans if the box runs warm.
