Viking DEWD102 Warming Drawer Repair
The DEWD102 is a Designer 30-inch warming drawer, retired, with moisture control and temperatures from 90 to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. It is often installed under a wall oven or in an island, where a hot drawer meets cabinetry on every side. Heat that cannot escape sensibly can shorten the life of the control.
We service a DEWD102 by checking that it reaches and holds temperature at the high end, since that tests the element hardest. We then test the thermostat, the moisture vent and the slides. Clearance around the drawer and the cabinet temperature are also noted. The cavity is cleaned of spills that can burn on the element. Written pricing comes first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty follows the repair.
The element may have failed, or the thermostat or control may not be calling for heat. We measure resistance and voltage to see which. Then we replace only the part that fails the test and check the drawer reaches temperature again.
A weak element, a leaking seal or a vent open too far can slow it. We test each and compare the heat-up time with what is normal for this drawer.
Yes. Food burned onto the element or base causes smoke and damage. We clean the cavity, check the element and base for burn marks, and advise on liners that are safe to use.
