Viking DETU200 30-Inch Touch Cooktop
The DETU200 is a 30-inch electric radiant cooktop with rapid-response touch controls and a glass ceramic top. It is retired, though many remain in service in remodeled kitchens that kept the sleek Designer look.
Touch controls are convenient but sensitive. A wet cloth, grease film or a pot that boils over can make the pad stop answering, and the cooktop may also beep or shut off by itself. We start by drying and cleaning the panel, then check the control board, the connections to each element, and the elements themselves. A zone that stays dark may be a bad element, or it may be the board not sending power.
You get the price in writing before we replace a board or an element.
Spills or moisture on the touch pad can look like a stuck key, and the cooktop will shut down for safety. Wipe it dry. If it continues, we test the control board.
Sometimes, depending on whether the problem is the pad, the board behind it, or the wiring. We diagnose first, then quote only the part that is needed.
Yes. Use a cleaner made for ceramic glass and avoid dragging heavy cookware across it. Clean spills soon, because baked-on sugar can pit the surface.
