Internal Error is flash pattern 5-5 on Viking Professional VDB450 and FDB451 built-in dishwashers with the second-generation control. The Pots/Pans light flashes five times, then the Normal Wash light flashes five times. The dishwasher's control has found an internal problem of its own, not a water or door issue. The cycle stops, and the pattern may repeat. Cleaning the filter will not change it.
1. Turn off the dishwasher's breaker for two minutes and turn it on again. 2. Hold START for four seconds and run a short cycle. 3. If 5-5 shows again, stop using the dishwasher. An internal control error is not something to work around with more resets.
The control's own self-check failed. The problem is inside the electronics, not in the water supply, the drain or the door latch, so cleaning and leveling will not help.
Possibly once. If 5-5 returns after a breaker reset and a four-second START hold, the control or its connections need attention from a technician. That is the point to stop.
Not usually. Often only the control board needs replacing. We confirm the problem on site and quote the repair in writing before ordering any part.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
