On current Viking VDWU and FDWU dishwashers in the 324, 524 and 724 series, including the WS versions, E:09 is a display board communication error. The display board carries the program indicator that shows you where the cycle is. If the main board loses contact with it, the E:09 icon appears, and the lights and controls may respond slowly or not at all.
1. Switch the dishwasher off at its breaker for two minutes, then back on. 2. Dry the control area with a soft cloth if it is damp; moisture on the panel can disturb the controls. 3. Press Start and check that the program indicator responds. 4. If E:09 returns, call us.
It is the board behind the control panel that shows the program lights. E:09 means the main board is no longer communicating with it. Without that link the indicator cannot show you the cycle status.
Steam from opening the door right after a hot cycle can reach the panel over time and cause trouble. We check for moisture on the board when we inspect it.
If it starts, it may run, but the lights and controls may be unreliable. We suggest a repair before the problem takes the whole panel down, with the price quoted in writing first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
