Viking touch-control electric wall ovens such as the Professional VESO530T and VEDO530T and the Designer DSOE305T display RELAY ERROR when the main control board detects no connection to the relay board. The link runs from the PU5 and PL5 connectors on the main board to P4 on the relay board. The relay board switches the heating elements, so with the link lost the oven may not heat. The message stays on until the connection is restored.
1. Press OFF, then wait until the cavity is cool to the touch. 2. Power the unit down at the oven breaker for sixty seconds, then power it up. 3. Check whether the oven heats on a short bake. 4. If the message returns, switch the breaker off. 5. Call us, because the boards sit behind the oven panels and the wiring is not for owners to touch.
It switches power to the heating elements on command from the main control. If the two boards lose contact, the oven cannot heat reliably, which is why the message appears.
If it was a one-off glitch after a power blip, yes. A repeat means the cable, the connectors or one of the boards needs inspection by a technician.
Not unless both test bad. We check the link between the boards first, give you a written price before any work, and offer a 30-day workmanship warranty on the repair.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
