On Viking indicator-light range ovens without a numeric display, such as the Professional VDSC530 and VESC530 and the D3 RDSCD230-5B, Latch is a door latch error. You read it from the lights: the cycle light is off and the clean light flashes one second on and one second off. The control could not confirm the latch position, so the oven stops the cycle.
1. Let the oven cool before touching the door. 2. Close the door squarely and check that nothing is caught in the frame. 3. Press the oven off key and switch the oven's breaker off for a minute, then back on. 4. If the clean light keeps flashing, stop and call us. If you smell gas on a dual-fuel range, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside.
The cycle light stays off and the clean light flashes evenly, one second on and one second off. That pattern is the door latch error on these ovens.
The RTD error flashes the cycle light and leaves the clean light off, which is the reverse of Latch. The two lights tell you which error it is.
If the oven is cool, a gentle try is fine. If it will not release, do not pry; call us so the latch is not damaged further.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
