On Viking Professional VICU206 and VICU266 induction cooktops and the hybrid VCCU106 and VCCU166, code 4 reports incorrect setup data. The interface board and the induction generator disagree on configuration, because the interface board has set the filter board wrongly. The same table appears on the VISC530 induction range. You will see the 4 and the affected zones may not heat at all.
1. Switch the breaker for the cooktop off for about a minute, then on. 2. Start a single zone with a flat magnetic pan and see whether the 4 comes back. 3. If it returns, stop using the cooktop. The setup data is stored on boards inside the unit, so the next step is a service call and not something to adjust yourself.
The interface board reads your knobs and sends instructions, and the induction generator makes the heat. Code 4 means they are not agreeing on how the cooktop is set up.
Rarely for good. It may clear for a moment, but a true configuration mismatch comes back. Treat a returning 4 as a repair, not a reset job.
The interface board is checked first. If it is the one sending bad configuration, it is replaced, and the filter board is only changed afterward if it still reports a problem.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
