Viking VRT53644G 36-Inch Gas Rangetop
Current in the 5 Series, the VRT53644G is a 36-inch gas rangetop with a TruPower Plus burner of 18,500 BTU, a porcelainized cooking surface and VariSimmer control. At 36 inches it is the size most remodeled kitchens choose for a separate cooktop.
In a kitchen where the rangetop is the focus, small flame problems get noticed immediately. A yellow tip usually means grease in a port, and a burner that lights late often has a damp electrode. We separate the two by testing each burner dry and then under a pot.
We read each flame and spark before we clean, so we know what changed. Should you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside. Prices are written before work, with a 30-day warranty.
It means the gas-air mix is off, usually from grease in the ports. It wastes fuel and leaves soot. We clean the ports and reseat the cap.
A pot changes airflow and can reveal problems the open flame hides. It lets us see how the burner behaves in real use. A burner that behaves with a cold open flame can still falter under a loaded pan.
The hood should be at least as wide as the cooktop and rated for its total heat output. This is a design question we can discuss during a visit.
