Viking VQGPB5201 Power Burner Repair
The VQGPB5201 is a 20-inch power burner module designed for wok cooking or hard searing in an outdoor kitchen island. It runs much hotter than a standard grill burner, so it gives the gas train a harder job and shows trouble sooner when something is restricted.
A burner that lights but never reaches full flame is a different problem from one that will not light. The first points to a pressure problem, a partly blocked orifice or fouled ports; the second to the igniter or the valve. We separate the two before replacing anything, and we confirm that the line can feed a high-output burner.
Wok cooking splashes oil and sauce onto the head, so we clean the burner and igniter area as part of the visit. For any gas odor, shut off the supply, leave the area and call the gas utility from outside. You get a written price first and a 30-day warranty.
A high-output burner needs full gas pressure and clear ports. We check supply pressure, the orifice size and the ports, because even a small restriction shows up at high flow.
Some noise is normal at maximum, but a flame lifting off the burner is not. That points to too much pressure or air, and we adjust and test it.
It can, but the line must supply both at full demand. We measure pressure with both running, because a line that is too small starves the power burner first.
