Viking VIPR162R 36-Inch Rear Downdraft
The VIPR162R is the remote-control version of the 36-inch VIPR rear downdraft, now retired. With the controls mounted away from the unit, the intake can be kept simple, and the panel is placed where it is easy to reach.
Our service starts at the panel, testing the switch and tracing the wiring to the blower. We then lift out the filters and inspect the slot behind the cooktop. Under the counter, the blower is checked for balance and the motor for a smooth start. We run every speed and then follow the duct to the outside, looking for kinks or a damper that no longer opens. The R in the model number identifies the remote-control version, which matters when ordering parts.
A written price comes first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty covers the repair.
The R at the end of the model number marks the remote-control version. We confirm it from the label on the unit before ordering any part.
Filters, wheel and duct are the usual suspects. We clean the filters and check the path for restrictions. A thin layer of grease on the wheel is enough to weaken a downdraft that has a short path.
That is an installation question for your installer. We repair the panel where it is and make sure the wiring is secure. Moving a panel means new wiring and cabinet work, which your installer would handle.
