On Viking RVL Pureline Pro ceiling hoods, models MVCEH636SS and MVCEH648SS, the grease filter reminder is not a text message at all. After 20 cooking hours a green LED on the hood lights up to tell you the grease filter needs cleaning. It is only an upkeep reminder, nothing has broken, and the hood keeps running normally. Other Viking hoods have no filter reminder, so a FILT message you hear about elsewhere does not apply to them.
1. Switch the hood off and let the lights and filters cool. 2. Remove the grease filters and wash them in hot soapy water or the dishwasher. 3. Let them dry fully and refit them firmly. 4. Reset the cleaning indicator using the reset steps in your owner's guide. 5. If the green light returns right after a reset, call us.
No. It is a cleaning reminder that comes on after about 20 cooking hours on the MVCEH ceiling hoods. The motor and lights are unaffected, and the light goes out once you clean the filters and reset the indicator.
Only the Pureline Pro ceiling hoods MVCEH636 and MVCEH648 carry this indicator. Other Viking hoods have no filter reminder, so you simply have to wash those filters on a regular schedule yourself.
Check that both filters are seated properly, then repeat the reset steps. If the green light still glows, call us. We quote the price before any work and back our repairs with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
