Viking VIH54081 Wide Island Hood
The VIH54081 is a retired 54-inch island hood. At that width it is usually centered over a 48-inch range with room to spare, or over a rangetop and a grill, in an island that anchors the kitchen.
The width calls for patient work on the filters, since each is a different load of grease. We clean them, check the frames, and then open the hood to inspect the blower and the motor mounts. We test every speed, watch the damper and examine the duct. The lights and the switch come last. Hanging weight is also on our list: we look at the ceiling support and the fasteners to make sure nothing is working loose.
You see a written price first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty covers the repair.
It is built to hang securely, but fasteners can loosen over time. We check them during service and tighten any that have moved. A secure ceiling mount is checked at every visit because failure there would be serious.
You will hear a rhythmic hum or feel vibration, often at a single speed. We clean the wheel and tighten it, then test again. A wheel that has gathered grease on one side is the usual cause of that hum.
Filters and bulbs are the common parts, and we match them on site. Special parts are explained before any work begins. If a part is hard to find, we say so before you approve the work.
