Viking VICV42981 Professional Island Ventilator
The VICV42981 is a retired 42-inch Professional Series built-in custom ventilator for an island hood. It is the insert that goes inside a hood shell the builder made, centered over an island range or cooktop, with the duct passing through the ceiling above.
Since the insert is hidden, our first job is to find the best way to reach it. We usually work from underneath, taking out the filters and checking them for grease and bent frames. We then look at the blower and motor from below, test the lights, and run each speed on the control. A look at the ceiling duct for a stuck damper completes the check. If the shell looks too tight around the insert, we tell you.
You get a written price before we begin, and a 30-day workmanship warranty covers the repair.
Air can drift away on every side, so the insert must pull strongly. Keeping the filters and blower clean matters more than on a wall installation.
Usually yes, through the filter opening and the underside. We protect surfaces and stop to ask you before any extra access is made. We cover the surrounding surfaces before opening anything, and we restore every panel afterward.
The power supply is fine, so we check the fan control, the motor and any starting part. Each is tested before we replace anything. Often it is only a loose wire or a worn switch, and the fix is a small one.
