Viking VGRT482 48-Inch Sealed Rangetop
The VGRT482 is a retired 48-inch rangetop in the Professional Series with sealed burners and a one-piece porcelainized top whose raised edges contain spills. At that width it is installed in a long counter cutout, with a hood and often a pot filler nearby.
Large surfaces get large spills. The raised rim keeps the mess on the top, but the volume of liquid that can run under the caps rises with the number of burners. We therefore find electrodes with residue and caps that no longer sit flat after years of wiping.
We dry and test each burner and compare their flames. If gas is in the air, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside. The price is in writing first, and our warranty is 30 days.
Not by design, but more burners means more chances for a wet electrode or a shifted cap. We test each burner, so one problem does not hide others.
A mild cleaner is fine, but avoid abrasive powders. Spray the cloth, not the surface, so liquid does not run under the burner caps. Let the surface cool first, because cleaner dries quickly on hot porcelain and leaves streaks.
If one burner is silent and the rest spark, it is the electrode or wire. If none spark, we test the module and its power.
