Viking VGIB242T 24-Inch Infrared Griller
The VGIB242T is a retired 24-inch gas TruSear infrared griller in the Professional series, wider than the 15-inch VGIB151T. A 24-inch infrared surface gives enough room for a few steaks at once, and that makes uneven glow easy to spot.
An infrared burner will not glow where gas cannot reach, so patchy searing points to clogged openings or a cracked ceramic. We examine the surface under good light, then test the igniter and the safety circuit that keeps gas flowing only when a flame is present. A flame sensor that drops out makes the burner shut off a few seconds after lighting.
Retired models require us to confirm part availability before we quote. We check the gas connection and any enclosure ventilation, then give you the price in writing. All work carries a 30-day warranty, and any gas odor means shutting off the supply first.
The flame sensing circuit may not detect flame, often from a dirty or worn sensor. We clean it, check its position and test the safety valve.
No. A cracked ceramic changes how gas flows across the surface and can be unsafe. We replace the burner assembly when the ceramic is damaged. Pieces shedding from a cracked ceramic can drop into the housing.
Burn off residue after cooking, keep water off while hot and avoid heavy grease build-up. We check the ceramic every service. A quick brush when cool helps the openings stay clear.
