Viking VGBQ55404RE 54-Inch Grill Repair
At 54 inches, the VGBQ55404RE is the widest grill in the retired 500 Series list, with 29,000 BTU stainless steel burners and a heavy-duty rotisserie. A grill this long needs a gas line that was sized for it, which is why pressure is the first thing we check.
With every burner lit, we measure the regulator output and the pressure at the manifold. If the end burners fade, either the line is too small or the ports are dirty. We then work along the manifold with soap solution on every joint, because a slow leak at a fitting is more likely on a long run.
Moisture-damaged igniters are common after damp weather, so we dry, regap and, where needed, replace them. The rotisserie motor and spit get a load test. For retired parts we confirm availability, give a written price first, and add our 30-day workmanship warranty.
Low pressure at the far end of the manifold or dirty ports. We test under full load and clean the ports before suggesting a bigger line.
It is the pipe that distributes gas to each burner. Joints on it can loosen with heat cycles, so we soap-test each one during service. A leak here would feed several burners, so it matters.
Not always. Drying and regapping often fixes them, but corroded electrodes or wires must be replaced to restore reliable spark. We test the spark in daylight and dim light.
