Viking VGBQ54224 42-Inch Grill Repair
The VGBQ54224 is a 42-inch Ultra-Premium gas grill in Viking’s 5 Series, supplied for either natural gas or propane. Backyard grills of this size spend their lives in humidity, pollen and the occasional storm, so the trouble we find is mostly about clogged ports, damp igniters and grease that has been allowed to pile up.
When a burner will not light but you can hear gas, we pull the grates and look at the ports, the venturi tube and the spark gap before touching anything else. Insects like to nest in venturi tubes, and a partly blocked tube gives a lazy yellow flame. Uneven heat across the grill is usually a regulator or ports problem, not a bad burner.
Gas smell at any fitting means turning the supply off and calling the gas utility from outside. We give a written price before repairs and back them with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Most often the ports on that side are partly blocked or the venturi tube holds a nest. We clean and test them, then check regulator pressure if the difference remains.
It is supplied for one fuel or the other, and changing it needs the correct conversion parts. We handle the swap, check pressure and leak-test every joint before the grill is used.
Turn off the supply at the tank or valve, move away and call your gas utility from a safe distance. Do not try to light anything. We inspect after the utility clears it.
Book in about a minute, or call the desk. Same-day windows inside the Loop on most days, next-day across the rest of Houston.
