Viking VCWH53648 Heat Sensor Hood
The VCWH53648 is a current 5 Series chimney wall hood, 36 inches wide and 18 inches high. Its features include heat lamps, dimmable lighting with replaceable long-life LED bulbs, and a heat sensor that raises ventilator power on its own when the area gets hot.
It is the standard width for a 36-inch range, so you will find it in plenty of kitchens with a 5 Series range beneath. For service, we check what owners notice first: whether the fan reacts to heat, whether the lights dim smoothly, and whether the heat lamps light. Then we clean the filters, open the housing to check the blower wheel and motor, and watch the damper. Bulbs for the heat lamps are bought locally.
We quote in writing before beginning, and repairs have a 30-day workmanship warranty.
That is the heat sensor doing its job when temperatures rise. If it never reacts, or reacts constantly, we test the sensor and its wiring. That response can be a useful warning that the range area is getting hotter than expected.
A worn dimmer control or a loose connection is likely. We test both, and check the LED driver before replacing any parts. A new bulb alone will not cure flicker caused by the control.
Yes, with the hood cool and the power off. The bulbs are bought locally, and if a new one does not light, we test the socket.
