Viking MVIDC6485B Induction Downdraft
At 48 inches, the MVIDC6485B is the wider Panorama downdraft cooktop, with induction elements, integrated downdraft ventilation, Double Boost power management and automatic pan detection with safety shut-off. It is a current model, often placed in an island where the cooking area is used by several people.
When it needs service, we begin with the cookware, because induction responds only to pans it can sense. After that we test the elements and pan detection, the touch controls and the cooling path for the electronics. Below the counter we check the downdraft filters, blower and duct. We also keep the area around the cooktop clear and dry, since liquids and electronics do not mix.
We quote in writing first, and repairs come with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Safety shut-off is a feature, but it should not trigger on a normal pan. We check pan detection, ventilation of the electronics and the power supply.
Induction requires pans that a magnet sticks to. Thin or warped bases may also be detected poorly, so try another pan before calling. Cooling fans for the electronics are checked too.
The filters can be taken out and washed; we handle anything below the counter, including the blower, and the ductwork. Rinse them in warm soapy water, dry them well and refit them before the next use, then call us if the pull is still weak.
