Viking DTWS30491 Tall Hood Repair
The DTWS30491 is a 30-inch Designer Series traditional wall hood without a ledge, listed as a tall model, and it is meant to hang above a 30-inch range. It shares its numbering with the 36-, 42- and 48-inch DTWS hoods.
Behind the canopy there is limited room for the blower and wiring, so even a thin film of grease can hurt airflow. We start with the filters, then inspect the blower wheel and motor, the damper, the lights and the control. We take care not to scratch the canopy, which is exposed along its front edge. Where the finish is exposed, we put down covers and handle the canopy with soft cloths.
A written price comes before any work, and our repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
The blower housing is compact, so a film of grease takes up a real share of the airflow path. Regular cleaning keeps it moving. Cleaning them is quick and needs only warm soapy water.
Check whether the fan speed switch clicks. If it does, the blower or its starting parts are the likely cause, which we test directly. We start by testing the switch, because it is the cheapest part to rule out.
Usually during the first visit. We bring common parts, and give a written price before replacing anything. Most owners are surprised how quickly a visit like this goes when the cause is a worn switch or a coated blower wheel, rather than a complete motor failure that needs ordering.
