Viking DGRT300 Designer Gas Rangetop
The DGRT300 is a retired 30-inch Designer gas rangetop with sealed burners, brass flame ports and a 16,000 BTU burner for faster heat-up. It is built to be installed in a counter cutout, with the oven or drawers placed wherever the kitchen layout allowed.
Brass ports hold their shape for years, but they trap residue, and when one fills, the flame becomes lopsided. The big burner is the one that works hardest and the one whose igniter we replace most often. A boil-over under the cap shows up first as clicking.
We take the caps off, clean the ports and electrodes, and watch every ignition. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside. The price is written beforehand, and the work comes with a 30-day warranty.
One or more ports are partly blocked, so gas exits unevenly. We clean the brass ports with the right tools and check that the cap sits flat before testing the flame again.
Use a soft brush or a needle-style cleaner made for ports. Hard wire can enlarge the openings and change the flame permanently. Check the result by lighting the burner afterward and looking at the flame ring for gaps.
It keeps spills on the surface instead of letting them drop into the burner box. Liquid can still reach the electrode through the cap, so we still see clicking after a boil-over.
