Viking DERT361 36-Inch Electric Rangetop
Stretching across 36 inches, the DERT361 is a retired Designer electric rangetop with QuickCook elements and a bridge element that joins the front and rear zones. It is the width many owners chose when they wanted more surface than a 30-inch top but did not need a full range.
A wider electric surface means more elements sharing a larger set of wires, so the connections get a lot of heat in a small space. We commonly find terminals darkened by years of load and switches that now buzz. The bridge element, which relies on an additional link, is the most likely to stop first.
We test each element and switch with a meter, then examine the wiring. Written pricing comes before repairs, and we guarantee workmanship for 30 days.
The bridge uses an extra link or switch that the standard elements do not. We test that link, the element itself and its terminals to find which one has failed.
Elements are plugged or wired to heavy-current terminals, and a loose connection can start a fire. We recommend a technician handle it, and we check the terminal block at the same time.
They are designed to reach full power in about three seconds. If one takes noticeably longer, a weak switch or a poor connection is the likely reason.
