Viking DERT301 30-Inch Electric Rangetop
The DERT301 is a retired 30-inch Designer electric rangetop, so it sits in a counter cutout with no gas connection, only a heavy-duty electric supply. Its QuickCook elements reach full power in about three seconds, and the bridge element joins the front and rear zones into one long surface.
Electric surfaces age through heat cycles. A terminal block that has browned, an element switch that now chatters, or a bridge element whose link has stopped working are the things we see most. Each one can mimic the others, which is why we test with a meter and not by guessing.
We confirm the supply, test each element for continuity and examine the connections. You get a written price before we replace anything, and our work is under a 30-day workmanship warranty.
The bridge usually has its own switch or link, so we test the switch, the element's resistance and the wiring. It is often a connection that has browned, which is repaired cheaply.
An aging switch or a loose terminal interrupts the current. We meter the circuit while the element is on, and replace the switch or clean the connection depending on what the readings show.
Yes. The elements draw heavy current, so the cutout is fed by its own breaker. If a breaker trips repeatedly, we check the element and wiring before blaming the breaker.
