Viking DCIH5404 Island Hood Service
At 54 inches wide, the DCIH5404 is one of the larger Designer Series island hoods, usually centered above a long range or a rangetop in an island with seating on the far side. A hood this size moves a lot of air through one duct, so any restriction shows up quickly.
When one of these calls us, we start at the baffle filters and the underside of the canopy, where grease film builds up. Then we run each speed, listen for a blower wheel that has drifted out of balance, and test the lights and the control switch one at a time.
Because the model is retired, we tell you up front what can be repaired and quote the work in writing. Repairs come with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Often the filters or blower wheel are coated, so less air reaches the edges of the canopy. Cleaning them and checking the duct damper restores most of the pull before any part is replaced.
In most cases yes. Blowers, switches and lamps are repair items, and a hood this size is costly to replace and re-duct. We give you a written price so you can compare.
Shaking usually means the blower wheel is out of balance from grease or a loose mounting. We tighten and clean it, then run all speeds again to confirm the vibration is gone.
